Modeling Tree Growth Responses to Climate Change: A Case Study in Natural Deciduous Mountain Forests

چکیده

Climate change has significant effects on forest ecosystems around the world. Since tree diameter increment determines volume and ultimately production, an accurate estimate of this variable under future climate is great importance for sustainable management. In study, we modeled current expected change, using multilayer perceptron (MLP) artificial neural networks linear mixed-effect model in two sites Hyrcanian Forest, northern Iran. Using 573 monitoring fixed-area (0.1 ha) plots, measured calculated biotic abiotic factors (i.e., at breast height (DBH), basal area largest trees (BAL), (BA), elevation, aspect, slope, precipitation, temperature). We investigated effect year 2070 reference scenarios; RCP 4.5 (an intermediate scenario) 8.5 extreme due to uncertainty caused by general circulation models. According scenarios amount annual precipitation temperature during study period will increase 12.18 mm 1.77 °C, respectively. Further, results showed that impact predicted was not very noticeable growth end decreased only about 7% annually. The rate, fact, neutralize each other, therefore, rate does significantly compared beginning. Based models’ predictions, MLP performed better predicting increment.

Climate Change Impact on Some Factors Affecting Rainfed Wheat Growth (Case Study: Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province)

The aim of this study was to investigate the climate change impacts on some factors affecting rainfed wheat growth such as effective rainfall, planting date and length of growing season in four stations located in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province. Firstly, it is necessary to predict future (2046-2065) climatic conditions. For this purpose, the output of HADCM3 general circulation model was us...

Natural solutions to climate change

Fifty years ago, humans harboured the hubristic idea that they could alter the weather and climate to their advantage, perhaps to prevent future ice ages or to induce rainfall in drought-stricken regions. these high-flying hopes were eventually doused by reality; today, we have the more humble objective of merely keeping the climate stable—in particular, mitigating the impact of greenhouse gase...

Biodiversity and Climate Change: Consequences for Norway Spruce Mountain Forests in Slovakia

Study of the effects of climate change on Norway Spruce (Picea abies) forests has mainly focused on the diversity of tree species diversity of tree species as a result of the ability of species to tolerate temperature and moisture changes as well as some effects of disturbance regime changes. The tree species’ diversity changes in spruce forests due to climate change have been analyzed via gap ...
